Bird conservation in the northern forests of Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin has received increasing attention in the last decade in response to a great need for improved coordination of monitoring and other conservation activities across the boreal hardwood transition zone. The Northern Forests Birds Network was established to provide training and resources for land managers from all organizations concerned with bird habitat.

In response to member requests at an October 2023 workshop, the NFBN is organizing multiple webinar sessions on climate change adaptation in 2024. This June 13th session featured Maddy Baroli and Stephen Handler from NIACS sharing an explanation of the Adaptation Workbook, Forest Adaptation Menu, and Wildlife Adaptation Menu. A second webinar featuring NIACS staff on July 11th focused on assisted migration tools and resources and will be available for viewing soon at the NFBN YouTube channel.
